Themagulaka Seya - Photography Competition

The Business Information Technology Students' Association (BITSA) recently launched a photography competition called "Themagulaka Seya". This was the first time that BITSA along with the Department of Information Systems, and the Faculty of Management Studies organized this competition mainly focusing on the creativity of capturing beautiful moments of Vesak Festival for those who see the world with new eyes every day.

Participation in this competition was allowed for all the undergraduates of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The participants were given a time for submitting their photographs from the 12th of May to the 16th of May, 2022. This competition was mainly held under two categories. The first, second, and third places were chosen by the judging panel. Dr. G.P.H. Kandambi and Dr. J.D.T. Madusanka joined with this as the judge board. They gave their maximum support for the success of this competition. There were a total of 60 photographs submitted by the contestants. The judging board selected the best out of the best, based on the creativity in capturing, and also the BITSA official Facebook page posted all the photographs for the title of the most popular photograph and it was based on the most reactions to the photographs on Facebook.

The winner announcement ceremony of the competition was held on the 16th of June, 2022 in the auditorium of the Faculty of Management Studies, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. Mr. PG Munasinghe, the head of the department, and all the other lecturers of the Department of Information Systems took part in this winner announcing ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the president of BITSA welcomed all, and after that, the most popular photograph was announced which belonged to Mr. L.A.B. Miyuranga.

Then there was a song by brother Isuru Sadhakelum. Then after, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the competition were announced. The 1st place went to the 3rd year student Miss. R.A.Y.L.K. Jayarathne from the Department of Business Management, Faculty of Management Studies, and the 2nd place went to the 3rd year student Miss. E.G.I.L. Jayarathne from the Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Management Studies, and the 3rd place went to the 2nd year student Mr. B.A.S.S. Basnayaka from the Department of Physical Science, Faculty of Applied Science.

A wireless speaker, an earphone, a speaker, and a stereo headphone were gifted as prizes to the winners. Finally, with the vote of thanks by the secretary of BITSA, this “Themagulaka Seya” photography competition was successfully completed for the year 2022.
